platanos fritos

Platanos or plantains are also known as green bananas. Plantains can be used for cooking at any stage of ripeness, and very ripe plantain can be eaten raw. The Plantain's taste reminds a lot that of the potato but as it ripens, it becomes sweeter and its colour changes from green to yellow to black, just like bananas. It can be prepared in various ways but in the Dominican republic it's either boiled or fried and usually accompanied by fried eggs and/or fried salami.
