srpasta anemija
Krvi poremećaj koji se s roditelja prenosi na djecu. Uključuje probleme u crvenim krvnim stanicama. Normalne crvene krvne stanice su okrugle i glatke i lako se kreću kroz krvne žile. Srpaste stanice su grube i imaju zakrivljene rubove. Ove stanice ne mogu se provući kroz male krvne žile. Blokiraju prolaz krvi u organe. Organizam uništava srpaste eritrocite, ali ne može proizvesti nove tako brzo - to dovodi do stanja koje nazivamo anemija.
